What game designing software is used to produce apps/games for the iphone/ipod touch?

Kai :
I am trying to earn a little extra $$ and I was wondering if anyone knew what game designing software is used to make the apps/games for the iPhone and iPod Touch. How much does it cost? Where can you find it? Does it work with the Mac? Please help!

David D :
See

Blah45 :
Apple has its own SDK pack to use when developing games for the iPod and iPhone.

Daniel S :
Apple has a free package of utilities that you can download for application developing. You would have to be very fluent with programming (im not sure which language it is though) and you would have to spend a WHOLE LOT of time making it.

Heres a link to info and stuff:

Ω Coder :
Of course it works with a mac.

All you need can be found here:

You do need to pay some cash to put your app into the app store, but the SDK is free.

Oh and I get the feeling that you are wildly underestimating the complexity of creating software for the iPhone. My apologies if you aren't, but the "Does the Apple-developed software work on a Mac" question kinda shows your hand...if I had to guess, I'd say you have little to no software development experience.

iPhone apps are developed in Objective C, which takes no less than 10 years or 10 thousand hours to master. Experienced programmers will be able to fluently use it with *only* 6 to 8 months of constant practice (although, if you already know C++ or C, you can get it in less).

Like I said, I don't mean any offense and my apologies if you ARE an experienced software dev. If not, you should look into another way of making some extra scratch. This isn't kid's stuff.

Hi Kai!

Yes, you are right..

It needs a Mac as the software provided by Apple is made for a Mac..

its the iPhone SDK.

It initially does not cost anything if U own a mac(that meets the minimum system requirement) already...

You can use the resources made available to you @ in order to learn how-to start-off-with..

Once you create something, test it with the simulator on the mac.

however, testing on the Device is different experience.

(i hope U have an ipod touch 2g or an iphone)

once you are confident with what you have created, go, subscribe for a yearly contract for $99.

for every sale, Apple keeps 30% & gives U 70%

I am not sure of how the Payment is made or how many days it takes.

However a few more tips for a will-be-developer!

~> Do not release the app for just one country, unless it may hurt the sentiments of the people of the country you are trying to sell it to, its a Big No No.

~> Do Release a Lite version of the app, it gives people a taste of what they are ready to pay for.

~> Add a good amount of Game Play, unlike Super Monkey Ball (just 3 levels out of 150 or whatever) Something like Rolando, i haven't finished the lite version yet.

~> Do not Delay if U Cannot keep up the promise, like EA's NFS Undercover.(PpL are Bashing it Left, right & centre, I was Drolling when I watched the trailer, I felt bad when it did not come out in Nov, I Lost hope now, not expecting it to be released @ a heavy price after such a long wait)
