how do I turn on the iphone external speaker during games?

your problem is probably that your iPhone is on silent or vibrate mode. many apps use this to determine whether or not to have sound. switch the small switch in the upper left part of your iphone to the position closest to the plane of the screen to turn on audio. Hope this helps. :)

It should play out of the external speaker by itself, but if not, try turning up the volume using the side buttons.
